Bhubaneswar, March 8 (IANS) The Biju Janata Dal, which snapped its ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will forge a pre-poll alliance with the Left parties in Orissa, BJD chief and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said here Sunday.
The announcement came after Patnaik held a discussion with Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury.
“We had a preliminary discussion on seat-sharing,” Patnaik told reporters.
The BJP and the BJD, allied for 11 years, decided to part ways after their seat-sharing talks for the Lok Sabha elections failed Saturday.
