Mumbai: In an attempt to check further communal clashes instigated by the banned CD of ‘‘Mandir Wahin Banayenge’ the Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Arif Naseem Khan ordered the suspension of the SHO of the police station under whose jurisdiction the CD is played.
Media reports say the unanimous decision was taken in a meeting attended by the Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Home Minister Naseem Khan and the ministry officials.
The decision is believed to have been taken following the visit of Nanded superintendent of police to affected area. The SP recovered the CD and sent the details of Nanded riots to the government.
Communal clash occurred in Nanded on March 13 when the participants of a Shiv Jayanti juloos played the CD in front of a mosque. The police allegedly conducting a biased probe arrested 31 Muslim youths. Meanwhile the Maharashtra government has ordered investigation in the case on demand of the locals.
It should be noted that there have been many riots all over Maharashtra due to the inflammatory CD. Naseem Khan said though the government had banned the CD, it was shown at many occasions causing communal clashes.
