New Delhi, Aug 19 (IANS) Former Uttarakhand chief minister and senior Congress leader N.D. Tiwari has been appointed governor of Andhra Pradesh, an official announcement said Sunday.
A statement from the Rashtrapati Bhawan said President Pratibha Patil also transferred Orissa governor Rameshwar Thakur to Karnataka as governor for his remaining term as the incumbent T.N Chaturvedi’s term ends Aug 20.
Congress leader Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare was appointed Orissa governor.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Shailendra Kumar Singh was appointed governor of Rajasthan, relieving Haryana governor A.R. Kidwai of his additional duties that he had assumed after Pratibha Patil was nominated for the presidential post.
Nagaland governor K. Sankarnarayanan will also hold the additional duty as Arunachal Pradesh governor.
Uttarkhand Governor Sudarshan Agarwal has been transferred to Sikkim for his remaining tenure with effect from Oct 24 when the term of present incumbent V. Rama Rao ends.
After Rama Rao’s retirement, Meghalaya Governor B.L. Joshi will be transferred to Uttarkhand, said the statement.
