New York : More than 500 followers of Swami Satyanandji Maharaj from all over the United States, India, Canada, the UK, Fiji and Australia participated in a three-day camp in Pennsylvania to gain spiritual guidance to everyday living.
The 2009 USA Open Sadhana Satsang to gain spiritual guidance to everyday living through ‘Ram Naam Diksha’ was conducted under the auspices of Shree Ram Sharnam Ashram, New York by spiritual guru Dr. Vishwamitter Ji Maharaj at Arsha Vidya Gurukukam in picturesque Saylorsburg from May 13 to 18.
The participants including professionals, students, retirees and small children camped on the serene grounds of the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, following a disciplined routine of early rising, eating less, daily prayers, bhajans, meditation and even maintaining two hours of silence on all the three days.
Dr. Vishwamitter Ji Maharaj was a leading ocular microbiologist before he renounced everything to spread “Ram Naam” and guide people to find inner peace without superficial religious symbolism. He had last visited the United States to conduct a similar sadhana satsang in 2002.
According to the sadhana satsang organiser Ashwani Gupta, who runs the New York chapter of Shree Ram Sharnam Ashram, the US centres regularly conduct similar Sadhana Satsangs on a regular basis, and also to commemorate the birth anniversaries of the past and present gurus.
Shree Ram Sharnam Ashram has six centres in the USA and Canada.
