In a press statement, here today, Dr. Javaid Rahi, Secretary Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation, said that the Gujjars extend full support to the Maha Panchayat being held in Rajasthan on Sunday.

Rahi further condemned the government of Rajasthan which has imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), banning assembly of more than four people, during Aug 21-26 in Alwar and Jhalawar districts.

He added that Gujjars of all Northern States of India however, are going ahead with their preparations for what they call one of the biggest meets of the community.

Gujjars in Rajasthan have been demanding tribal status that would give reservations in schools, colleges and jobs.
