GCC ministerial council holds session Saturday in Saudi capital

Riyadh : The Foreign Ministers of The Arab Gulf cooperation Council (GCC) will hold their 104th session of the Ministerial Council here on Saturday.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al-atiyyah, the GCC Secretary General reiterated the importance of this session in the light of the current situation in the region.

The Session will discuss a number of topics, which contribute to supporting and strengthening the GCC joint work.

It will also highlight steps that have been taken by the competent ministerial committees, especially with regard to the requirements of the joint Gulf market updates, which will be declared in the next session of the Supreme Council, he added

In addition, the Council will also discuss and approve a number of projects of the joint action in the light of the recommendations of the ministerial committees, which held their meetings recently in the areas of economy, politics, security, education, information, and the affairs of human beings and the environment, along with the annual report of the Standardisation Commission.

The meeting will also review the process of negotiations with countries and economic groups, Al-atiyyah said.

The session will follow-up the donor conference in support of development projects and infrastructure in the Republic of Yemen, held in London in November last year.

Al-atiyyah noted that the most important political issues to be discussed by the Ministerial Council are the issue of Iran’s occupation of the three islands of the United Arab Emirates; the Palestinian issue; the latest developments in the peace process in the Middle East; relations with Iran, the nuclear file crisis and the current situations in Iraq, Lebanon, Sudan and Somalia.
