Raipur : The Chhattisgarh government Wednesday announced relief measures for families hit by Maoist violence including jobs to dependents of policemen killed while battling rebels.
“The state government has decided to give jobs, on compassionate basis and within 60 days, to the relatives of the policemen killed by the Naxalites,” Chief Minister Raman Singh told reporters after a cabinet meeting here.
Singh said the cabinet also approved a home department proposal to increase a special allowance for policemen deployed in insurgency-hit areas from existing 15 percent of the basic salary to 20 percent.
The relatives of the security personnel killed after April 1, 2009 will also get heavy discount in purchasing houses in the projects of the state-run Chhattisgarh State Housing Board.
Chhattisgarh is one of the states worst hit by leftwing radical violence.
