Azamgarh: Mounting pressure on the government and police authorities to take action in the murder case filed against the Azamgarh BJP MP Ramakant Yadav, respected residents of the district have sent a memorandum to the President of India condemning the MP’s attack on the unarmed workers of the Ulema Council killing one youth and injuring many others, and demanding his immediate arrest.
While condemning all seemingly fake Police encounters like Sohrabuddin, Batla House, Manipur just to name a few, they demanded time bound high level probe under judicial supervision for all such fake encounters. The residents deplored NHRC report on Batla House encounter as the Commission did not even visit the House No. L-18 where the encounter took place on September 19, 2008. In order to bring to light the truth trial of Batla House accused should be consolidated and proceeded through a fast track court on daily basis, the residents under the banner of a citizens’ group Welfare, Medical, Educational and Legal Assistance (AWMELA), Azamgarh demanded.
In the special meeting of the AWMELA held at the residence of Dr. Javed Akhtar, President AWMELA on August 14, following resolutions were passed and sent to the President through the District Magistrate of Azamgarh.
