The accused, whose name has not been revealed, was travelling to Pathankot on the Jhelum Express. Police also arrested his wife who was accompanying him.

“We are trying to ascertain the reason behind the firing. He came out of the coach and started firing, killing a vendor and injuring two RPF (Railway Protection Force) officials,” Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Kalia told IANS.

“We suspect he might have links with some terrorist outfit. He was in an inebriated condition. That delayed our inquiry process. Our interrogation is on,” Kalia said.

The police have seized his luggage and a revolver used in the crime.
