New Delhi : The Congress Thursday snubbed senior party leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi for attacking Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar over his handling of the drought situation.
“Whatever the party would like to say, it would do so officially. The party advises Congressmen not to express their so-called personal views in public or through the media,” Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said.
Chaturvedi Wednesday accused Pawar of misrepresenting facts on the availability of sugar in the country.
“If the stocks of sugar were there and the mills were full of sugar stocks, then how did the shortage take place? Now his statement comes that there would be shortage of sugar and due to (poor) sugarcane (crop), sugar will have to be imported,” Chaturvedi had told reporters.
Dwivedi said that “whatever the party had to say on the drought situation and other related issues, it has said”.
