Buenos Aires : Argentina is experiencing “a decreasing tendency” in swine flu cases though the toll has risen to 514, the official Telam news agency has reported.
Health officials analysed “20,409 samples and confirmed 8,851 cases of Pandemic Influenza (H1N1)” across Argentina, a new health ministry report said.
Two more deaths from the Influenza A (H1N1) flu virus have been registered since the release of the previous situation report last Monday.
“The Pandemic Influenza (H1N1) and uncategorized Influenza A viruses came to account for 92.9 percent of the total reported respiratory virus cases in those over age 5,” the ministry report says.
In July, when the southern hemisphere winter was at its peak, officials closed schools and cancelled political, cultural and sports events to prevent the spread of swine flu.
