Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated online tax payment and dealer point registration service in the Transport Department at the State secretariat. He also gave first authorised dealer point registration certificate to Charanjeet Nagpal of Gwalior.
Chouhan while addressing the people associated to the transport occupation and automobile dealers said that e-governance is must for good governance. The facility would save time and would enable them to deposit tax and to get the registration number from their offices itself. Also, transparency in the system can be maintained by this facility to curb the corruption. Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to introduce the online tax payment and dealer point registration facility, he claimed.
The Chief Minister Chouhan informed that cyber treasury has been introduced in the state in the current financial year. Under this, budget was allocated to all the departments in the first week of the April 2007 itself. He expressed the hope that Madhya Pradesh would soon become developed state leaving behind the tag of “Bimaru” state. The online system in the Transport Department would prove to be a milestone in the field of e-governance.
The Minister for Finance Raghavji said that Madhya Pradesh has achieved the distinction to become the first state as regard to online payment of commercial taxes. Now, Transport Department turning online would save time spent through agents.
The Minister for Home and Transport Kothari mentioned that online system would bring transparency in the system and would help check corruption. Cent percent computerisation is being undertaken in the transport department, which will help five lakh people associated with the transport profession to deposit tax through cyber treasury. Moreover, electronic weighing scales would be installed at all the inter-state transport check points shortly, he added. Also, information pertaining to sale/purchase of the used vehicles could be obtained from the computers, which will help identifying the status of the vehicle.
