Talking to media persons here Aslam Sher alleged that names of many eligible Muslim voters were being deleted from the voters’ list ahead of the civic polls. He cited the example of Ward No. 20 in Bhopal from where the names of 1,260 Muslims had been deleted from the voters list as BJP thinks that they would never vote for it.

He claimed that similar complaints had also been received from other parts of the state including Indore and Ujjain.

Aslam urged the BJP Government to ensure that the polls would be held in a free and fair manner. He warned the BJP not to do anything that would make Madhya Pradesh go the Gujarat way.

Meanwhile, Aslam Sher said that Congress party faced defeat in Madhya Pradesh in last Assembly polls due to differences among its leaders. Without taking any names, he said that it was the duty of senior leaders to ensure unity within the party but they had failed in that.

The Congress leader said that there may be groupism in the party but once a person was given a ticket for any elections, everyone in the party should work for him.

He said that it was obvious that the BJP always took benefit of lack of unity in Congress. He claimed that the BJP had carved out Chhattisgarh out of Madhya Pradesh as it felt that it could never win elections in the United Madhya Pradesh and splitting it would benefit it in the elections.
