The two men arrested in Mumbai have been identified as Chandrakant Talwar (35) and Syron Rodriguez (20), both Goans. They have been arrested in the past for robbery, the police said.

“All we can say is, they were arrested in Mumbai today (Friday). The police team will be reaching Goa tomorrow (Saturday). We will be able to elaborate more only when they return,” Deputy Inspector General of Police R.S. Yadav told reporters at a press conference.

Not denying the possibility of a serial killer having committed murders in the past few days, Yadav said: “It is too early to say, but we are not ruling out their involvement in other cases. We are keeping all our options open”.

The 16-year-old girl is one of the four found murdered in the state between Monday and Wednesday this week.

The minor girl was found dead in Verna, 30 km, from here with her body partially burnt. Two other women found killed within 72 hours from Monday, were also found in a partially burnt condition, while one was found with her face disfigured, bludgeoned with a heavy object.
