Jakarta : Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was sworn in for a second term Tuesday after a landslide win in July’s election.
With a cleric holding a copy of the Koran above his head, Yudhoyono took the oath of office in a ceremony at the national parliament building.
“In the name of God the Almighty, I swear that I will perform the duties of the president of the Republic of Indonesia to the best of my ability and as justly as possible,” Yudhoyono said.
Vice President Boediono took a similar oath after Yudhoyono.
Yudhoyono easily won the July 8 presidential election on campaign pledges to boost economic growth and continue to fight widespread corruption.
He has begun assembling his new cabinet and is expected to announce the line-up Wednesday.
