DG Khan, Pakistan : Leader of the House in Senate, Senator Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said on Saturday that federal government and provinces were working together for a strong Pakistan.
The Senator visited DG Khan on behalf of President Asif Ali Zardari to express sympathies to Advisor to Chief Minister Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Punjab minister for local government Sardar Dost Muhammad Khosa, and MNA Sardar Saifuddin Khan Khosa.
Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari also sympathized with the bereaved families who had lost their loved ones in DG Khan blast and inquired about the health of injured under treatment at the hospital.
It may be recalled that an explosive laden vehicle had exploded on December 15 last right in front of the house of Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa claiming many innocent lives and ruining nearby houses and shops.
The senator termed agreement on NFC Award as an achievement adding that four provincial governments agreed on it after nineteen long years.
He said that federal government cut down its budget to give more resources to provinces to strengthen them adding that strong provinces means strong federation and strong Pakistan.
He said that electricity royalty was paid to NWFP to remove deprivation of its people while 13,000 jobs were announced for Balochistan besides other measures to end sense of deprivation.
He said, the democratically elected government will continue to fight terrorism with full force till the menace is defeated.
The senator pointed out that seeds of terrorism were sown during the past dictatorship regimes be it the 1977 or 1999.
Terrorism was not only causing loss of precious lives but also taking its toll on national economy and government was committed to defeat this worst enemy of the people with the support of the nation.
He said that four provincial governments and the federal government will successfully defeat terrorism.
Nayyar Bukhari lauded armed forces for their successful operation in Malakand including Swat and added that operation in Waziristan will also be completed successfully.
He described terrorists as beasts having no affiliation with the country or religion.
To a question, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said that according to constitution MNAs, MPAs, senators and ministers can defend themselves in cases while holding their respective offices.
He said that government was pursuing a policy of reconciliation with all the political forces including PML-N as per vision of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto that democracy is the best revenge.
He said that federal government will honour the Supreme Court verdict on NRO.
To another question, he said that it was a uniform policy of the government to pay Rs 500,000 to martyrs of terrorism incidents and Rs 50,000 to 75,000 to the injured.
He said that PPP has always rendered sacrifices and was pursuing the policy of reconciliation under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari. PPP shared power with other political parties in all the four provinces and allowed majority parties to form governments, he added.
He said that PPP wants to strengthen Pakistan by sharing power with the poor as per vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
PPP was consulting all political forces on important national issues to promote and strengthen democratic traditions in the country, Nayyar said.
He said that the federal government will defeat the terrorism with the help of four provinces and the armed forces of the country.
