“The cabinet has given its approval for allotment of 7,900 low cost flats under its Rajiv Ratan Awas Yojna. It has given its nod to the modified policy guidelines for this purpose,” Dikshit said.

The flats are in Bawana, Narela, Bhorgarh, Gogha and Bapraula areas.

“The allotment will be taken up to relocate and rehabilitate the residents in a well-developed, multi-storeyed residential complex with all civic amenities including schools, shopping centres for essential items along with a public transport system,” Dikshit said.

The annual income of the family of the allottee should not be more than Rs.60,000 and they should not be owning any house in Delhi.

“In order to enhance the status of women, it has been decided to make the allotment jointly in the name of the husband and wife,” Dikshit said.

The allotment of the flat will be made initially for 15 years, which may be extended later.
