New Delhi : Shashi Tharoor, former minister of state for external affairs, has been nominated as a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.
Confirming the news, Lok Sabha MP P.C. Chacko Sunday said: “Tharoor is nominated as a member because of his interest in the field and his experience in this area.”
Tharoor resigned as minister April 18 in the wake of allegations that he had misused office to help his friend Sunanda Pushkar get stake in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Kochi franchise. The issue led to a massive furore in parliament with the opposition demanding that Tharoor resign.
