Karunakaran hospitalised

Thiruvananthapuram : Former Kerala chief minister K. Karunakaran was admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital here Sunday after he complained of breathing problems.

The four-time chief minister, Karunakaran, 89, arrived at the hospital for a routine check-up. However, the doctors advised him to be kept under medical observation for respiratory problems and cough.

The veteran leader has been out of active politics after merging his party – launched after quitting the Congress – with the Nationalist Congress Party.
