Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Tuesday issued new guidelines for disciplinary action to be taken against officials of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS), found involved in corruption or violating discipline.
The officials of Indian Forest Service (IFS) will also come under the purview of the guidelines.
The government order said these guidelines were issued in light of violations by officials when it came to taking leave and other service issues.
Last week, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan had named three officials who had gone on a foreign trip without official sanction.
The most recent violation was when Inspector General of Police Tomin J. Thachenkery went on a Middle East trip in April without official sanction. Achuthanandan suspended him when it was brought to his notice.
As per the new guidelines, the department concerned has to inform the general administration department (GAD) within seven days if it finds any official violating discipline.
The department, in turn, has to submit a file containing the service record of the official to the chief secretary, who will bring it to the attention of the chief minister for necessary action against the erring official.
