US got a good deal in spy swap: Biden

By IANS,

Washingto: US Vice President Joe Biden has said America definitely got a “good deal” in the US-Russia spy swap. The swap saw 10 spies working for Russia in the US returned to Moscow and four alleged agents were sent to the US in exchange.

Biden told chat show host Jay Leno Friday night that the US “didn’t get a raw deal from Russia” in the biggest spy swap since the Cold War, the Telegraph reported.

Leno asked Biden during “The Tonight Show” why the US was sending 10 accused spies back to Russia while getting only four in return.

“That doesn’t seem fair,” Leno said, to which Biden answered, “We got back four really good ones”.

“And the ten, they’ve been here a long time, but they hadn’t done much,” the vice president said.

Leno then showed a sultry photo of alleged Russian agent Anna Chapman and asked: “Do we have any spies that hot?” to which Biden replied, in a mock-serious tone: “Let me be clear. It was not my idea to send her back.”

The spy exchange took place Friday at an airport in Vienna.
