By IRNA,
Berlin : Germany has ended the training of Iraq’s military forces, defense ministry spokesman, Steffen Moritz, told the press here on Friday.
Dozens of military trainers had instructed hundreds of Iraqi soldiers and police officers as part of a German government-run program launched in 2004.
The Iraqi military training took place in the United Arab Emirates and Germany.
Berlin had repeatedly made clear it would only participate in military training program outside Iraq because of the woeful security situation in the Middle Eastern country.
Germany had strongly opposed the US invasion of Iraq in March 2003.
