Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir government Thursday ordered a major shake-up in the state administration, shifting several senior civil and police officers.
The major reshuffle, decided in a cabinet meeting Thursday, has been ordered to tone up the state administration so that the law and order challenges faced by the Omar Abdullah-led government because of the ongoing unrest here are met more effectively, officials said.
K. Rajendra has been posted as additional director general, Law and Order and Armed Police.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Farooq Ahmad will be the new IGP (Security), while S.M. Sahai will take over as the new IGP, Kashmir. B. Srinivas is the new IGP (CID).
Navin Aggarwal has been posted as IGP (Railways), Zahoor Hussain Chisti as IGP (Armed Police, Kashmir zone) while Ravinder Kotal will be the new IGP (Armed Police, Jammu zone).
In the civil administration, B.R. Sharma has been posted as the financial commissioner (Home) and Asghar Hussain Samoon as the divisional commissioner (Kashmir).
B.B. Vyas will be the new principal secretary to the chief minister while the incumbent, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai has been posted as principal secretary, planning department.
Basharat Ahmad Dhar will be the new commissioner/secretary, power development department.
