New Delhi: Delhi-based NGO Pahel yesterday distributed clothes, shoes and other necessary items among the flood affected people currently living in camps in Muslim-dominated Jamia Nagar area of South Delhi. Their homes have been submerged in the rising Yamuna River that flows touching Jamia Nagar in the north.
Hundreds of affected people are now forced to live in government erected tents in Batla House, Dhobi Ghat and Zakir Hussain Extension areas in the vicinity of Jamia Millia Islamia.
Notably, a number of people are affected by the flood and have lost their properties and became homeless. The state government has arranged camps for the victims. Besides the government, several NGOs are also helping these people in different ways. Pahel NGO which has been taking part in such social activates also came out to extend helping hand towards the victims.
