Mumbai: The Bombay High Court Monday allowed the Shiv Sena to hold its annual Dussehra rally at the Shivaji Park Sunday.

Granting the permission, though with certain conditions, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud directed the organisers to follow noise pollution rules.

Earlier this year, hearing a public interest litigation (PIL), the high court had banned all public functions at the Shivaji Park and declared it as a silence zone in view of noise pollution and related issues raised by locals.

However, last week, the court made an exception by allowing the Bengal Club to perform its 75-year old Durga Puja celebrations at the venue, starting Wednesday.

“The high court has permitted us to hold the rally, subject to us following different prescribed norms,” senior Shiv Sena leader and petitioner Anil Parab said.
