Mumbai: “Secular organization will seek legal advice to file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Allahabad High court verdict on Babri Masjid- Ranjanambhoomi title suit,” declared prominent social activist, Irfan Engineer in a seminar organized by All India Secular Forum on Tuesday October 12, in Mumbai.
“We will not appeal for the mosque or temple but will demand that the case must be resolved as per the law and it should not be based on faith,” he added.
But at the same time he had a word of caution for all the stake holders of this issue.
“Approaching the Apex Court or initiating reconciliation, whatever is the case; the communal harmony of the country should not be disturbed,” he further added.
Raising a very critical legal point, renowned lawyer, Mihir Desai said, “First case in this dispute was filed in 1885 by a Mahant of Ram Chabutra, outside the Babri Mosque, but rejected twice by the court and even then the title of the mosque was not challenged.”
Prominent social and human rights activist Ram Puniyani, came down heavily on the Sangh Parivar.
“The issue is not between Hindus and Muslims but it is some fanatic elements who want to change secular India to Hindu Rashtra,” he said.
