Lagos : At least 13 people have been killed while several went missing following a communal clash in Nigeria’s Cross River state, police said.
The incident occurred between Nsadop and Boje communities in Boki local government area over a disputed piece of land, state police spokesperson Etim Dickson told reporters in state capital Calabar Tuesday.
The toll could, however, increase considering the level of destruction in the area, Dickson was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
A man named Michael Pius said his wife and six children were among those missing.
Another man, Silas Abang, said there had been a lingering acrimony between the two communities over an ancestral piece of land.
Eyewitnesses said around 200 people were admitted to hospital.
