Lucknow: Two persons were killed and several others injured in a devastating blast here in Kanpur this afternoon. The Bomb Disposal Squad has reached the site. While 2 persons were killed on the spot, 10 others are believed to be buried in the debris. Four have been rushed to hospital.
The blast took place at the two-storey staff quarter of a government hospital. While one storey was razed to the ground, other neighboring houses were severely damaged.
While the Police suspect this could be a cylinder blast, the final word is yet to come out.
The city has witnessed several low intensity blasts in the past. In the August 24, 2008 blast in a flat two Bajrang Dal activists were killed while making bombs. The police had later found a large quantity of explosives and other bomb-making materials.
The Uttar Pradesh ATS had found that Rajiv Mishra and Bhupinder Singh were attached to Bajrang Dal.
