A delegation led by Naib Imam Aishbagh Eidgah, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli also submitted a memorandum to the district administration demanding action against those behind the demolition of the mosque. “Even 18 years after the incident no arrests have been made in this regard. The sign is not good for a secular country,” said Farangi Mahli. He also demanded that the cases related to the dispute and under litigation in Raebareli and Lucknow should be shifted to special court of CBI. “Action should also be taken against those indicted in Librahan Commission report. The CBI should file fresh charge-sheets against them,” he said. The memorandum was also signed by Principal, Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulema, Maulana Saeedur Rehman Nadwi, member AIMPLB and eminent lawyer Zafaryab Jilani and several others.

Elsewhere the All India Muslim Forum (AIMF) observed the day as ‘save constitution day’ on Monday. The members of the forum staged sit-in at Shaheed Smarak and demanded action against those who conspired for razing down the Babri Masjid.

Another organisation Sunni Board of India observed it as ‘unity day’ by holding several programmes. Chairman of the organisation, Shahabuddin Khan denounced terror activities and appealed for unity among all sects and religions in the country.
