New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Wednesday said that it will analyse the airfare data submitted by domestic airlines to ensure transparency in the tariff.
“Tariff data is being examined for any discrepancy. Observations on the same will be communicated to the airlines to make it more passenger friendly so that public have informed choice for travel,” said an official statement.
According to the aviation watchdog, the first step for it was to ensure transparency in tariff publishing under rule 135, on which it had directed all the airlines Monday.
After the scheduled domestic airlines uploaded sector-wise airfares on their websites, the same data was also sent to the DGCA.
Earlier the regulator had received complaints that airlines were charging high rates for last minute bookings, sometimes as high as 200 percent of the normal fares.
