Gaza : Israeli Government is pondering Sunday a wide-scale military operation into Gaza Strip in retaliation for recurring missile attacks by Palestinian factions, according to reports.
The Israeli mini cabinet for political and security affairs will hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the military incursion, after hearing latest reports on Gaza’s security conditions.
Israel Radio said council members had difference of opinions regarding the operation, while political sources predicted that the council would endorse executing “precise operations” that would target those responsible for the attacks.
If approved, the operation would also target arms depots and workshops, according to the radio.
Israeli Army had positioned a large number of tanks and equipment at the northern and eastern outskirts of Gaza, apparently preparing for the major military action.
Separately, al-Quds Brigades; the military wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, said in a statement today that tens of female martyrs were ready to face any projected attack on Gaza.
The statement stressed that all Palestinian resistance factions were ready to face any that may be aggression carried out by the Israeli Army, adding that attacking Gaza would not be “an easy picnic” for the Israeli soldiers.
