Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi Tuesday stoutly denied allegations that relatives of DMK leaders were grabbing the land allotted to poor under the free two-acre land scheme.
In his letter to DMK cadres, Karunanidhi said he had cross-checked with various district collectors and found that the magazine report alleging land grab by party men were baseless.
He said his government has distributed 210,747 acres of land to benefit 175,798 landless poor.
He said that as per reports, the land distributed in Salem, Dindugal, Coimbatore and Tiruchirappalli was being used for cultivation by the beneficiaries.
