Patna : Left with no other option, Bihar Police held an identification parade of two pairs of calves to find out their real owners. But exasperated officials say the matter still remains unresolved.
It all began when Jagdish Yadav of Saiya-Marchaiya village in Bhojpur district, 60 km from here, reported to the police Sep 20 that his five cows and four calves had been stolen.
Ten days later, the police raided the house of Jatuli Thakur in the adjoining village of Chakki-Nauranga and recovered two pairs of calves.
Thakur claimed he had purchased the calves a few months earlier. Yadav insisted the calves were his.
Police officer Srikant Singh said the police sought the permission of a local court to conduct the identification parade.
This was conducted Oct 18 in the presence of Tiwari and Singh. Both of them however produced evidence in support of their respective claims.
“The dispute is yet to be settled. Even after the identification parade, the real owners have not been identified,” Singh said.
