Caracas : A total of 1,176 kg of cocaine was seized from a private ranch in eastern Venezuela, police said.
Venezuelan National Guard commander Luis Motta said the drug was found in a stone hideout, equipped to foil tracking equipment, in Anzoategui state.
Cylinders made of lead were detected and the criminals used the material to avoid the X-rays of the detection machines, he said.
Several guns were confiscated and four Venezuelan nationals and a Colombian were arrested.
So far this year, 5.8 tonnes of cocaine have been seized. According to official figures, 24.6 tonnes were seized last year.
