Dharamsala : The election result of the next Kalon Tripa, or the Tibetan prime minister-in-exile, will be announced Wednesday, an official said here.
“The chief election commission of the Central Tibetan Administration will announce the final results of the elections of the Kalon Tripa and the members of the parliament-in-exile in Dharamsala,” a spokesperson of the government-in-exile based in this Himachal Pradesh town told IANS.
The final round of polling for the 15th parliament-in-exile and third directly elected Kalon Tripa was conducted March 20.
The community is abuzz with excitement before the results as they believe the next Kalon Tripa will play a greater political role following the Dalai Lama’s announcement to retire from active politics.
Some 140,000 Tibetans live in exile around the world, over 100,000 of them in India.
