Chatterjee, deputy leader of the Trinamool Legislature party, said: “On coming Monday (May 23) our leader Mamata Banerjee will address the West Bengal legislative assembly as chief minister for the first time. In her speech she will give the roadmap in our effort to create a new Bengal,” said Chatterjee while addressing media persons.

Earlier this week, Mamata Banerjee was unanimously elected leader of the Trinamool Congress legislature party.

Chatterjee also mentioned that his party in order to “bring back the past glory of Bengal” wants to forget all past issues with the Left Front, which had ruled the state for 34 years.

“We want to bring back the past glory of Bengal by following the direction of our leader Mamata Banerjee. We want that during the swearing in ceremony of Banerjee all the past governors and former chief ministers of the state to be present during the ceremony.”

“We will be happy if Buddhadeb-babu (former chief minister) also comes during the ceremony. It’s time for creation of new Bengal,” said Chatterjee.
