Guwahati: Tarun Gogoi, who took oath as Assam Chief Minister for the third term on 18th May, formed his council of ministers on 27th May. His 18-member council of ministers was administered oath of office and secrecy by Governor J B Patnaik at the ITA Centre here in Guwahati. Gogoi has inducted three Muslims in his team.
His council of ministers has two Muslim cabinet ministers — Rockybul Hussain and Dr Najrul Islam — and one minister of state is Siddique Ahmed. Gogoi has led Congress to power in the state for third time in a row.
The Cabinet ministers are: Goutam Roy, Kharsing Ingti, Pradyut Bordoloi, Prithvi Majhi, Pranati Phukan, Rockybul Hussain, Dr Ardhendu Kumar Dey, Dr Najrul Islam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Akan Bora, Nilamoni Sen Deka, Tanka Bahadur Rai, Ajanta Neog and Chandan Brahma. The Minister of State (MoS) are: Ajit Singh, Siddique Ahmed, Rajib Lochal Pegu and Basanta Das.
In all, 17 ministers belong to Congress while one minister Chandan Brahma belongs to BPF. The ministers will be allotted their portfolio on Monday next.
