Membership drive of Khudai Khidmatgar launched in J&K

New Delhi: The membership drive of Khudai Khidmatgar has formally been launched in J&K on 25th May. Two eminent members of Jammu and Kashmir civil society, Dr. Muzaffar Hussain and Syed Nasrullah launched the drive by giving the membership to Shahabul Haque from Doda, Shabbir Hussain from Badgaon and Ramzan from Bandipura.

The members took the oath to serve the humanity yesterday to revive the century- old Khudai Khidmatgar movement. Khudai Khidmatgar was started by Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, freedom fighter famously known as Frontier Gandhi.

Faisal khan of the revival committee of Khudai Khidmatgar talked about the idea behind the revival of Khudai khidmatgar. He said that Khudai Khidmatgars are going to work in different parts of country and called this program as a major stepping stone towards its revival process

Faisal Khan told TwoCircles.net that the agenda for Khudai Khidmatgar will be:
1. People empowerment through rights based approach
2 . Communal harmony
3. To facilitate as bridge between the Muslim masses and the larger Indian civil society
4. To nurture dedicated, honest Muslim social activists

Faisal Khan further added that, “There have been immense human rights violations in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It’s our responsibility to understand the pain and trauma of people from the state and Khudai Khidmatgar will try to do that work.”

“Khudai Khidmatgar is gradually becoming a democratic movement on the ground. We need to ensure that the movement doesn’t evolve the way typically NGOs are becoming,” Khan added.

Dr. Muzaffar wished Khudai Khidmatgar all the best and he also extended his cooperation to ensure that Khudai Khidmatgar turns into a movement on the ground in the state.

On this occasion more than seventy people received the membership of the organization. Soon the membership drive will be started in the entire state.
