Domestic flights’ check-in opens on Airport Metro line

New Delhi : After several delays, the Airport Express Line (AEL) in the capital Friday launched its check-in facility that allows domestic fliers to check-in their baggage and get boarding passes at two Metro stations.

Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited (DAMEPL), a Reliance Infrastructure-led consortium that operates the AEL, said Friday: “The facility began at 3 p.m today (Friday) at two stations – New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium – in the AEL.”

Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher have set up two counters each at both the stations where fliers can check-in their baggage and collect their boarding passes, according to an official.

International passengers would be provided with the facility soon after the requisite permission is granted.

According to the spokesperson, the passengers can check-in their bags a maximum six hours and a minimum two hours prior to their departure time.

The facility can be availed from 5 a.m till 11 p.m.

The 23-km Airport Metro, which has six stations, connects Connaught Place with the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in 18 minutes.
