Judge HL Srinivas postponed the trail as several accused asked for more time to appoint consuls. A total of 32 have been accused in the case, of which PDP chairman Abdunnasir Maudany is the 31st accused. Lawyers were present reportedly only for six accused, including Maudany. Tilak Raj and Vasanth H Vaidya represented Maudany in the court.

The accused, including two in Gujarat jail, were presented before the special court set in the jail by video conferencing. But prime accused Thadiyantavide Naseer and 19th accused Shafas, who are in jail in Kerala, were not presented. However, the accused protested against not presenting them directly in the court, which was functioning inside the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail compound itself. Public prosecutor reportedly mentioned security issues and health problems for not presenting the accused directly. And the court said that direct presentation could be considered from the next date of trial onwards. The court also reportedly directed to present in the court those accused who are in jails in other states.

Two of the accused, Tajudheen and Abdul Qader, submitted bail pleas and two others – 8th accused Muhammed Zakariyya and 9th accused Badarudheen – submitted appeals seeking removal from the chargesheet, when the case was considered yesterday.

Maudany informed the court of his health conditions. He informed that health problems were continuing even after the treatment at the Ayurveda hospital in Bengaluru and that doctors had suggested follow-up treatment. Diabetes was not yet brought under control. There were problems with knee and back-pain, as well as eye-sight.

One person was killed and a few others injured in the serial blasts that rocked Bengaluru city on July 25, 2008. Maudany, who was named only in the additional chargesheet, was arrested from Kerala by the Karnataka police in August 2010 when he was on his way to surrender in court. After ten days’ police custody he was remanded to judicial custody which has been extended since. His bail plea is under the consideration of the Supreme Court.
