Wellington : New Zealand Prime Minister John Key Thursday said he was shocked and saddened at the latest terrorist attack on Mumbai.
At least 17 people were killed and over 130 injured in three bombings Wednesday evening.
Key – who recently returned from India – had paid tributes to the people who were killed in the November 2008 attacks.
“Signing the condolence book at the Taj Palace Hotel (in Mumbai) was an emotional experience. The 2008 attacks were a terrifying experience with devastating consequences,” Xinhua quoted Key as saying in a statement.
“These good and kind people did not deserve to be targeted by terrorists again. The people responsible for these cowardly attacks against civilians deserve nothing but contempt,” he said.
“I join other world leaders in condemning the perpetrators while sending Prime Minister Singh and the people of Mumbai my heartfelt condolences,” he added.
