“On Aug 23, after a brief gunfight, the army was able to eliminate another terrorist near Bagtor village while conducting search operations,” a defence spokesman here said in the statement.
“The terrorist fired indiscriminately on being cornered. The alert troops immediately returned the fire, resulting in the elimination of the terrorist. The operations were still on when the reports last came,” he said.

The spokesman further said in another gunfight, two separatist guerrillas were eliminated in the dense jungle of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
“On night of Aug 21, based on inputs regarding movement of some terrorists in the area, joint ambushes of police and the army were laid in the jungle,” the statement said.
“In two separate encounters yesterday (Tuesday), two hardcore foreign terrorists were eliminated, and a large quantity of war-like stores were recovered.”
