Lucknow : Expressing solidarity with Anna Hazare, a young farmer of Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district lay down on a bed of thorns for 10 hours.
Satya Narayan, 25, a native of Mathura’s Tarauli village, some 300 km from Lucknow, went on his quaint form of protest in Kosikala town Friday.
“From today (Saturday) onwards, I would lay on the bed for a longer time period, and would consume only hot water till Annaji breaks his fast,” Narayan told reporters.
“Lying on thorns gets extremely painful, but I have decided to endure the pain for Anna who is spearheading a campaign for the welfare of the nation without bothering about his failing health,” he added.
Narayan has chosen a park dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi in Kosikala area for his protest. Farmers from various villages in Mathura are converging at the Mahatma Gandhi park to witness Narayan’s protest.
