10 bodies recovered from Teesta project: ITBP

New Delhi : The bodies of 10 people, all of them believed to be workers at the Teesta hydel power project in quake-hit Sikkim, have been recovered by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), a statement said Monday.

“Of the total, nine are outsiders while one is a local resident,” the statement added.

“Four seriously injured persons were airlifted by army helicopters and are being provided medical aid,” it said.

Home Secretary R.K. Singh had earlier said that 35 people were killed in Sikkim when the massive earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale jolted the northeastern state.
