Aligarh: A group of Aligarh Muslim University students under the leadership of Saleem Mohammad Khan, MBBS student at AMU’s JN Medical College, met Sultan Ahmed, Minister of State for Tourism, Government of India, urging him for the stoppage of trains at Aligarh Junction.
The delegation told the minister about the difficulties they are facing in traveling to and from Aligarh. Saleem Khan, former member of AMU Students’ Union cabinet, demanded to link Aligarh with all parts of the country through good rail and road link so that students could reach AMU. For this, he demanded stoppage of trains at Aligarh. He demanded immediate stoppage of Lichchavi Express 14005/14006 at Aligarh Junction.

The delegation also demanded restoration of rail link between AMU and Darul Uloom, two largest minority institutions in the country. For this, they demanded new trains between Saharanpur and Aligarh and extension of Sangam Express and Khurja-Merut passenger to Aligarh to Saharanpur.
Other members of the delegation were Shamsul Arefeen, Yusuf Masood and other medical students and doctors.
Tourism Minister Sultan Ahmed heard them patiently and assured them to immediately write to the railway minister for stoppage of Lichchavi Express.
