New Delhi : A Delhi court has awarded around Rs.10 lakh compensation to the family of a 20-year-old girl who was killed after being hit by a bus in the capital earlier this year.
Motor Accident Claims Tribunal presiding officer Dinesh Bhatt ordered an insurance company to pay Rs.924,090 as compensation and around Rs.35,000 as interest within a month to the family of Vibha.
Vibha died March 30, when a low-floor Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus hit the vehicle in which she was travelling with her parents near Kashmere Gate. Her family survived.
The court held the driver of the bus, Subhash, guilty under the Motor Vehicles Act.
In its order Wednesday, the court directed the insurance company to pay the sum with an interest of 7.5 percent per annum from the date when the case was filed in May 2011.
