Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader from Telangana and member of parliament K. Keshava Rao Friday said if he failed to achieve separate Telangana state, it would be “death” for him.
He made the sensational remark while addressing a meeting of Telangana teachers at Telangana martyrs’ memorial.
“Achieving separate Telangana state is my goal and if it is not achieved, it is like death for me,” he said in a voice choked with emotion.
The Rajya Sabha member made the remark after he faced a volley of questions from participants as to why Congress leaders were not resigning for Telangana.
He also remarked that Telangana is more important than posts and party, and said he would announce his next course of action in a couple of days.
The senior leader also revealed that Lok Sabha member Ponnam Prabhakar in his letter to central leader Pranab Mukherjee wrote that he would consume poison if Telangana is not accorded statehood.
