New Delhi: The Rashtriya Ulama Council has strongly condemned the biased action of police during the communal riots in Rudrapur town of Uttarakhand and demanded the government to punish the guilty police officials who were involved in firing which killed four Muslims who were protesting against the desecration of Holy Quran on Oct. 2, 2011.
“As Uttarakhand is going to poll next year, it seemed there were some political parties who have been trying to create communal tension in the town for political gains. They wanted to provoke Muslims by repeated act of desecration of Quran” said Dr. Taslim Ahmad Rahmani, General Secretary of Rashtriya Ulama Council.
He described that Police’ inaction on the mischievous act was the main cause which led to the clash between the two communities in Rudrapur town of Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand.
He demanded from the state government adequate compensation to the families of those who were killed and also to those who got injured, besides better medical facilities to them.
He said that a delegation of Ulama Council will soon visit the affected area and then the party will decide the future course of action.
