IAF to hold employment fair for its ex-staff

New Delhi : The Indian Air Force (IAF) will organise an employment fair here Saturday for its retired personnel in an effort to find a second career for them.

Defence Minister A.K. Antony will inaugurate the fair that will be held at the Air Force Auditorium near Dhuala Kuan, when he will also release a pension handbook for the retired personnel, an IAF release said here Thursday.

The concept of the employment fair had germinated in 2007, when it was declared as the ‘Year of Placement for Ex-Servicemen’. Since then, a number of initiative have been undertaken to enhance the employment opportunities of veterans.

The IAF Placement Cell (IAFPC) has been functioning at Air Force Record Office (AFRO) here to assist those retired or retiring shortly to find a suitable second career in government, public sector undertakings and corporate sector. Besides, seven Regional Placement Cells too have been established at IAF Command headquarters.

At present, over 800 companies and 16,000 veterans have registered with IAF Placement Cell. Since 2007, a total of 12,760 vacancies were intimated to IAFPC against which 28,394 eligible veterans were offered to various companies.
