Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt granted bail

Ahmedabad: A local court here today granted bail to Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt. The bail was granted to him after 18 days in jail. Bhatt earlier this year had filed an affidavit in Supreme Court alleging the involvement of Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 riots.

However, he was arrested on 30th September for allegedly seeking forced signature of his subordinate constable KD Pant on legal papers implicating Modi.

Bhatt’s lawyer IH Saiyed has termed today’s development as a great relief. Bhatt is lodged in the Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad and hopefully would be out of the jail in a couple of hours, the lawyer said.
